Marrakech to Agadir: Bus vs Private Transfer (2026)
We run private transfers between Marrakech and Agadir every day, but the bus is a real option that works well for many travellers. Here is a straight comparison so you can decide what fits your trip.
Quick answer
Solo on a budget: CTM or Supratours bus, ~80-110 MAD (8-11€). Comfortable, scheduled.
2-4 travellers, families, or with luggage: Private transfer, 125€ flat for the vehicle (about 31€/person for 4) — door-to-door, your schedule.
Airport pickup or late arrival: Always private — bus station logistics after a flight are a punishment.
The bus options on the Marrakech↔Agadir route
CTM — the standard choice
- Price: 80-110 MAD (8-11€) per person
- Duration: 3h45-4h with a brief stop
- Departures: 6-8 daily, including night options
- Station Marrakech: Rue Abou Bakr Seddik, Gueliz
- Station Agadir: main bus station, Place Lahcen Tamri
- Tickets: ctm.ma or at the station
Supratours — slightly fancier
- Price: 90-120 MAD (9-12€) per person
- Duration: similar, 3h45-4h
- Departures: 4-6 daily
- Station Marrakech: ONCF railway station (also outside Gueliz)
- Tickets: oncf.ma (Supratours is run by ONCF, the rail operator)
Souk Travel and others — cheaper but less reliable
Souk Travel, Smaba, and a handful of smaller carriers operate the same corridor for 60-80 MAD. Older fleets, looser timetables, and you usually buy at the station. Fine if budget is the only thing that matters; otherwise CTM or Supratours.
What the real journey looks like
Whichever bus you take, the route is the same: Marrakech → Chichaoua → onto the A7 motorway → past Argan country → Agadir. The road is good. The drive itself takes about 3 hours; the extra 45 minutes on a bus comes from one mid-route stop and the time spent loading/unloading at the stations.
What is NOT in the bus ticket: the taxi to the station in Marrakech (5-8€), the taxi from the station in Agadir to your hotel (5-10€), and any wait time. So a "10€ bus ticket" is more like 20-25€ door-to-door for a single passenger. For two passengers, it is closer to 35€ door-to-door.
Real cost comparison (door-to-door)
| Travel mode | 1 person | 2 people | 4 people |
|---|---|---|---|
| CTM bus + 2 taxis | ~22€ | ~36€ | ~62€ |
| Private transfer | 125€ | 125€ | 125€ (31€/pp) |
| Grand taxi (shared) | ~15€ | ~30€ | ~60€ (need 2 cars) |
Bus prices include 5-8€ taxi to Marrakech bus station + 5-10€ taxi from Agadir station to hotel. Private transfer is fixed price for the whole vehicle, door-to-door.
The break-even is roughly 2 passengers. Solo: bus is 30-40% cheaper. Two: it is roughly the same once you add the station taxis. Three or four: private wins on cost AND comfort.
When the bus is the right call
- You are travelling solo and watching every euro
- You have hand luggage only and your hotel is near a bus station
- Your time is flexible — you can plan around CTM's schedule
- You enjoy the bus experience as part of the trip
When private transfer is genuinely better
- You are 2 or more travellers — the math flattens fast
- You have flights, kids, surfboards, or more than carry-on
- You are connecting via Agadir Airport (AGA) or Marrakech Airport (RAK)
- You are heading to Taghazout, Tamraght, or Imsouane (where the bus does not go)
- Your departure or arrival is early morning / late night
- Your time is more valuable than 10-20 saved euros
How to book each

Frequently asked questions
CTM and Supratours both charge around 80-110 MAD (8-11€) per person for the Marrakech-Agadir route. Souk Travel is slightly cheaper at 70-90 MAD. Tickets are sold at the station or online via the carrier websites. Add a 5-10€ taxi to and from the bus stations on each end.
CTM and Supratours buses take about 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours including a brief stop. The actual driving time is similar to a private transfer (3 hours via the A7 motorway), but bus stops add 15-30 minutes and the schedule depends on the operator.
CTM Marrakech is at Rue Abou Bakr Seddik, in the Gueliz district (north of the medina, about 10 minutes by taxi from Jemaa el-Fna). It is a different station from Supratours and from the main Marrakech bus station. Plan to arrive 30 minutes before departure.
CTM and Supratours buses arrive at the main Agadir bus station near Place Lahcen Tamri (downtown Agadir). From the station to most hotels in Agadir Bay or Founty it is another 5-10€ taxi ride. Taghazout-bound travelers will need a second taxi (around 15-20€).
Yes — both CTM and Supratours run modern coaches with reclining seats, air conditioning, and luggage compartments. The roads (N8 then A7 motorway) are well maintained. The downside is that you are at the mercy of the schedule, the route is fixed, and you cannot stop where you want.
Solo traveler on a tight budget? Take the bus — it is genuinely good. Couple, family, or group? A private transfer at 125€ for up to 4 passengers costs about 31€ per person, about double the bus fare per person but you skip the taxi-to-station, the schedule constraint, and the station-to-hotel taxi at the other end. For a family of 4 with luggage, private is usually faster door-to-door and not much more expensive.
Yes. CTM tickets at ctm.ma, Supratours via the ONCF train booking site (oncf.ma) since Supratours is owned by ONCF. Bookings can be made about a week in advance. In summer (July-August), book ahead — buses fill up. Off-season you can usually buy at the station.
Souk Travel and Smaba run cheaper services on the Marrakech-Agadir corridor (60-80 MAD), but the buses are older and the schedules less reliable. Stick with CTM or Supratours unless price is the only factor.
Yes — both CTM and Supratours run a couple of overnight options. They are popular but you trade scenery for sleep. Private transfer at night is also an option and avoids the bus-station logistics either side. See our night travel guide for safety considerations.
CTM and Supratours allow one large bag in the hold and one carry-on, no charge. Excess bags are sometimes charged 10-20 MAD. If you are traveling with surfboards (Taghazout-bound), bikes, or multiple large bags, private transfer makes the logistics far simpler.
